Handheld NIR Moisture Meter

The Original Handheld Non-Contact NIR Moisture Meter

The KJT130 is the world’s first handheld portable NIR moisture meter that measures without touching the sample. A 150 mm (optimal) focal distance means you can read moisture on stationary product, on moving conveyors, inside vats, on trucks at receiving — anywhere you can point the sensor. No sample preparation. No sample handling. No cleanup.

Solving Field Measurement Challenges

  • Lab turnaround is too slow: Walking samples back to the laboratory, waiting hours for oven-dry or Karl Fischer results, then making decisions on data that no longer reflects current conditions. The KJT130 delivers laboratory-grade moisture values in seconds, at the point of use.
  • Stopping production for spot checks: Halting the line to grab a sample disrupts throughput and changes the very conditions you are trying to measure. Point the KJT130 at the moving product and read the value without stopping anything.
  • Sample preparation introduces error: Loss-on-drying and titration methods alter the sample. Inconsistent prep means inconsistent results. NIR light reads the sample as-is, with no contact, no alteration, and no operator-dependent prep step.
  • Verifying online sensors means shutting down: Calibrating or auditing an installed online system traditionally requires pulling samples and running them in the lab — or stopping the process entirely. With the KJT130, technicians can take a portable reference reading directly alongside the online sensor while production continues.

Built for the Field

The KJT130 weighs 1.1 kg and runs on a rechargeable battery for true mobility — receiving docks, supplier audits, in-vessel inspections, production line walks. The backlit LCD displays the moisture value, absorbance, calibration curve, date and time. Up to 50 calibrations are stored on board, so the meter operates as a standalone instrument without a connected PC. When PC connection is needed, RS232C communication and Kett’s Tracker software handle calibration, data logging and continuous monitoring.

Each KJT130 ships with Kett’s one-year Total Care warranty on parts and labor and specification compliance. Post-warranty maintenance agreements are available.

Need lab-grade precision with averaged sampling? The KB230 Desktop NIR Moisture Meter uses a rotating turntable to average heterogeneous samples for the highest-precision laboratory work.

Need continuous process monitoring? The KB30 Online NIR Moisture Meter delivers real-time moisture values directly from the production line, 24/7, with no operator intervention.
