Description
The Advanced Standard for Grain and Seed Moisture Measurement with Full Documentation
The PM650 builds on Kett’s proven capacitance measurement platform, adding sample density readout, data output, and the broadest calibration library in the PM series. It is the instrument of choice where traceability, documentation, and multi-commodity versatility matter.
Solving Advanced Measurement and Documentation Challenges
- Documented Test Results for Trade and Compliance: RS232C output connects directly to an optional thermal printer or PC. Every test result — moisture and density — can be recorded, creating an auditable trail for receiving inspections, trade transactions, and quality programs.
- Density Verification to Prevent Disputes: The PM650 calculates density (g/l) from a fixed 240 mL sample volume and an integrated load cell — displayed alongside every moisture result. Because both volume and weight are determined by the instrument’s physical design, the density reading is inherently tamper-resistant. This independent second measurement is particularly valuable in trade environments where moisture content directly affects pricing.
- One Instrument for Your Entire Operation: With over 150 factory calibrations, the PM650 handles grains, coffee, tea, nuts, seeds, spices, flours, tapioca products, millets, and specialty crops. Calibrations can be adjusted for local conditions, and custom calibrations can be created by Kett for special requirements.
Same Proven Portability, More Capability
Like the PM450, the PM650 requires zero sample preparation — pour the whole sample, press MEA, and read the result. The integrated load cell and sample cell thermistor provide automatic density and temperature compensation with every test — instant, automatic, and tamper-resistant. Accuracy is ±0.5% (under 20% moisture) referenced to standard loss-on-drying methods. At 1.3 kg (under 3 lbs.) and battery-powered (4 AA), it’s fully portable for field, warehouse, receiving, and trade floor use. Backed by a one-year manufacturer’s warranty on parts and labor, with maintenance agreements available.
Looking for a streamlined option? The PM450 offers 39 calibrations covering major grains, coffee, and nuts at a lower price point — ideal when data output isn’t required.
