The C300 was a benchmark instrument for measuring rice whiteness, using light reflectance to give millers an indirect read on milling degree. It is no longer manufactured. For current production, the C600 Rice Whiteness Tester is the direct replacement.
Built around a tungsten lamp and a single blue filter, the C300 measured the whiteness of rice and displayed the result in about five seconds. It was the rice-industry whiteness standard of its era, valued for repeatable readings and straightforward operation on the bench.
