Description
HI520 Non-Destructive Moisture Tester (Legacy Model)
The HI520 is a handheld high-frequency capacitance moisture tester for cured concrete, mortar, and a range of building materials. Place the sensor against the surface, read the moisture content directly. Five factory calibrations cover concrete, mortar, lightweight concrete, gypsum board, and ALC. Manual and automatic temperature compensation, thickness compensation up to 40mm, hold function, and an upper-limit alarm round out the feature set.
Replaced by the HI520-2
Kett continues to support the HI520 with parts, calibration service, and maintenance agreements, but the model has been replaced in the active product line by the HI520-2. The HI520-2 retains the non-destructive surface measurement workflow and adds capabilities the original HI520 did not offer:
- Backlit display with three brightness settings for low-light measurement.
- Push-button menu replaces the three rotary dials of the HI520.
- 1,000-reading onboard memory with date and time stamping on every reading — useful for compliance documentation and customer audits.
- Six factory calibrations instead of five — adds calcium silicate board (CSB).
- Eight user calibration slots for materials outside the factory list. Pair with the optional HDL-01 data logger software to simplify calibration creation and export readings to a Windows PC.
- S mode for shallower-point measurement on thin boards, in addition to the standard D mode.
- Manual temperature override down to −10°C (vs. 0°C floor on the HI520).
