KJT270F Inline Fiber Optic NIR Composition Meter

Inline Fiber Optic NIR Composition Meter — See Inside Enclosed Processes

Measure moisture, protein, fat, oil and other organic components simultaneously inside processes you cannot see into — mixers, blenders, pneumatic and vacuum conveyors, extruders, spray and fluid bed dryers. The KJT270F’s fiber optic probe separates the measurement point from the electronics, reaching into enclosed, hot, hazardous or restricted spaces where standard sensors won’t fit.

  • Fiber Optic Probe Architecture: The optical probe mounts at the measurement point; the controller mounts where you have space, power and access. Reach inside vessels, around obstructions, into hazardous zones — without compromising sensor placement.
  • Enclosed and Hazardous Process Capable: CIP-compatible and explosion-proof configurations are available. Mount the probe inside mixers, dryers and conveying systems where the product is invisible from outside.
  • Full Multi-Component Composition: Simultaneous moisture, water activity, protein, fat, oil, sugar, solvent, alcohol, coat weight and film thickness — same measurement capability as the production-grade KJT700, in a fiber optic form factor.
  • Small-Sample and Specialty Applications: The 26 mm measurement spot suits narrow online targets — wet streaks, adhesive strips, print strips, coated webs — where a larger sensor footprint won’t work.

Description

NIR Composition Analysis Where Standard Sensors Cannot Reach

Most online NIR analyzers require line-of-sight to the product — they measure belts, sluices, drop chutes, anywhere the sensor can see the surface directly. But many of the most demanding measurement applications happen inside closed systems: blending vessels, pneumatic transport lines, fluid bed dryers, extruders. The KJT270F solves that problem with a fiber optic architecture — the optical probe goes where the product is, and the electronics stay where they can be serviced and protected.

Solving Inline and Enclosed Process Challenges

  • Enclosed processes are blind: Mixers, blenders, extruders and conveying lines move product inside sealed enclosures. Pulling samples for offline testing means stopping production or settling for spot data. The KJT270F probe mounts directly inside the process, scanning composition continuously without interrupting the run.
  • Hazardous areas need separation between probe and electronics: Explosion-proof installations require electronic enclosures rated for the hazard zone — but those enclosures often cannot be located where the measurement is needed. The fiber optic probe places the optical head exactly at the measurement point while the controller stays in a safer area.
  • Small-area online targets need a focused sensor: Wet streaks on a moving web, adhesive strips on packaging, print strips, narrow coated bands — these targets are smaller than the measurement spot of standard online sensors. The KJT270F’s 6 mm measurement spot fits where larger sensors overshoot.
  • Specialty applications need configuration flexibility: Reflectance is standard for most solid and granular products; transmittance is available for clear and translucent samples. The fiber optic probe can be configured either way at order, matching the optics to the application without changing the analyzer.

Built for Process Integration

The KJT270F probe mounts in process; the controller mounts up to several meters away, connected by fiber optic cable. The 6 mm measurement spot scans at 50mm or less (optimal) focal length with ±0.001% precision and 0.5-second refresh. The probe tip can be in contact with the product.  The smart-instrument design stores up to 50 calibrations on board, so the unit operates without a connected PC for routine measurement. RS232C communication and PC software handle calibration development and data logging when needed.

Each KJT270F ships with Kett’s one-year Total Care warranty on parts, labor and specification compliance. Post-warranty maintenance agreements and on-site calibration services are available.

Can you see your product directly on the line? The KJT700 Online NIR Composition Meter is the production-grade choice for belts, screws, sluices and any open conveying system — same multi-component composition capability, larger 35–50 mm measurement spot at 350 mm standoff.

Need lab-grade desktop verification of your process readings? The KB270 Desktop NIR Composition Meter brings the same multi-component capability to the laboratory bench, providing reference values for KJT270F calibration development and ongoing verification.
