The HI520-2 reads moisture through a high-frequency capacitance sensor placed directly against the surface — no drilled holes, no extracted samples, no waiting.

The HI-520-2 weighs under 0.4 kg (1 lb), runs on a single 9V alkaline battery, and fits in a soft case with strap. The redesigned housing and push-button controls replace the rotary dials of the original HI-520, making single-hand operation faster on a busy jobsite. Automatic temperature compensation, manual override down to −10°C, a hold function for readings in tight spots, and an upper-limit alarm for spec verification are all standard.
