Continuous Online Wood Moisture Monitoring for the Production Line
The HG770 moved moisture measurement out of the operator’s hand and onto the line. Its needle-roller contact system rode moving stock and read moisture continuously by DC electrical resistance, feeding values to process equipment through analog and serial outputs. For operations that needed to monitor moisture without pulling samples or stopping production, it brought inline measurement to the wood line.
What the HG770 Did
- Inline continuous reading: A needle-roller system maintained contact with moving stock for uninterrupted moisture monitoring.
- Process outputs: RS-232C serial plus analog outputs fed line-control systems and data logging in real time.
- Operator-visible display: A large LED readout kept the current value visible on the line.
- Working range to 35%: Covered the production moisture band on a dry-weight basis, with selectable calibration.
Measuring Wood Moisture Today
The HG770 has no direct successor in the current Kett lineup. For handheld and portable resistance measurement, the modern pin-type line carries the measurement principle forward in digital form.
Need current wood moisture measurement? The MT730 Wood Moisture Meter and the higher-range MT900 Wood Moisture Meter provide portable digital resistance measurement. For inline or process-integration requirements, contact Kett to discuss current options.
