Disk / Ball Friction System

Disk-on-disk and ball-on-disk friction coefficients and abrasion can be measured with the H20. A disk or ball indenter is loaded onto the test piece and connected to a highly-sensitive straingauge. As the turntable rotates, the load is transmitted to the PC software to display measurements up to 999,999 revolutions.

Rotational speed can be set between 10 and 600 rpm for varied analyses. Even delicate changes in friction can be readily identified and quantified for coating assessment or lubricant evaluation.

Description

The test piece can be mounted on the torque converter, as it is directly connected to the turntable. For the loading, it will be possible to select the disk for surface contact and the ball indenter for point contact. Low loading can be utilized to carry out the utmost accurate friction and wear testing because the disk and the ball indenter can both be balanced using the dead weight.

The H20 utilizes a high-speed rotating turntable, appropriate for carrying out high-speed wear testing in only one direction. Because the maximum rotation is 3000rpm, this type of testing can be carried out.

Since the torque converter is directly connected to the turntable, even minute changes in friction can be detected.

This balance arm mechanism supports various types of measurement probes including those for surface along with point and line contact. In addition to these features, the vertical loading can be set in 10g steps. A similar balance arm structure is also utilized in the Surface Property Tester Type (14FW).
