Repeatable Low-Moisture Testing for Paper and Board
The K200 specialized in the low end of the moisture scale, where readings are most sensitive to how the probe contacts the sheet. Its lever-operated constant pressure probe applied the same contact force on every test, giving mills and converters dependable low-moisture readings on kraft and liner board in about two seconds.
What the K200 Did Well
- Low-moisture coverage: Factory calibrations covered kraft paper from 1.5 to 10% and liner board from 5 to 15% moisture, below the range of standard probes.
- Constant contact pressure: Pressing the lever to its stop applied identical probe pressure on every measurement, removing operator variation where it matters most.
- Two-second direct readings: Insert the sheet, press the handle down, and read the moisture percentage directly from the digital display.
- 0-100 graduated scale: A reference mode let operators build correlation curves for paper grades outside the factory calibrations.
Moving Forward: The Same Calibrations, Fully Digital
The HK300 carries the K200’s measurement method forward in a modern digital instrument. Its constant pressure sensor uses the same kraft and liner calibration curves as the K200, so new readings remain comparable with your historical records and with the standards you share with customers and suppliers. The HK300 adds user calibration curves, automatic data storage, averaging, alarm limits, and printer output.
Still testing low-moisture paper and board? The HK300 Instant Paper Moisture Meter with constant pressure sensor uses the same calibration curves as the K200, so your readings stay comparable while you gain digital data storage and a choice of three measurement sensors.
