Handheld Static Friction Tester — Field-Ready, Operator-Independent, Lab-Grade Resolution
Measure the static coefficient of friction on flat surfaces in seconds — no incline tables, no strain gauges, no specialized training. Place the instrument, press the button, read the result. Built for production lines, QC labs, and field assessment of finished product.
Five-second measurement: Press once, get a coefficient of static friction reading from 0.000 to ~1.600 at 0.001 resolution.
Operator-independent results: Voice coil motor applies a controlled, repeatable force. Removes the human variability of incline and strain-gauge methods.
Built-in averaging: Take multiple readings on heterogeneous surfaces, push one button for the average. Reduces single-point judgment error on uneven samples.
Field-portable: Battery-powered, lightweight, fits in an included carrying case. Test on the production line, in the warehouse, or at a customer site.
The 14S provides immediate, accurate readings of many types of property measurements. By being able to measure static and dynamic friction coefficients, adhesion, scratch hardness, stickiness, tensile strength, and peel resistance with one unit, lab space is minimized and a consistent interface for measurements and data collection are provided. Various tests can be performed by changing test fixtures (jigs). This system does not include the ability to output data.
