L600S Standard Coating Thickness Gauge

Next-generation coating thickness gauge with a full-color display, interchangeable probes, and a slim handheld body.

The L600S measures coating thickness on metal in the field or on the bench, switching between electromagnetic and eddy current probes to handle paint, plating, anodizing, and more. A bright color screen and guided on-screen calibration make it easy for any operator to get accurate readings, indoors or in direct sunlight.

  • 2.7-inch full-color display: Clear in bright sunlight, with on-screen graphs and statistics.
  • Interchangeable probes: One gauge covers ferrous and non-ferrous work, with each probe storing its own calibrations.
  • Four measurement modes: Single, free, scan, and scan-average for repeatable readings on any surface.
  • 50,000-reading memory: Group and block organization with USB-C output to a PC.

Description

The Reliable Standard for Handheld Coating Thickness Measurement

The L600S brings a full-color display, interchangeable probes, and guided calibration into a slim handheld gauge. It is built for quality control, inspection, and field work where an operator needs accurate coating thickness readings on metal without carrying a separate tool for every substrate.

Solving Everyday Measurement Challenges

  • Hard-to-read screens outdoors: The 2.7-inch color display stays clearly visible in direct sunlight, so readings are easy to confirm on the job site.
  • One tool, many substrates: Swap between electromagnetic and eddy current probes to measure non-magnetic coatings on steel or insulating coatings on aluminum, copper, and brass.
  • Calibration that used to be difficult: An on-screen guided routine, with a QR code linking to a how-to video, walks the operator through foil calibration step by step.
  • Inconsistent readings on awkward shapes: Scan and scan-average modes capture continuous readings and report a stable average, useful on curved, blasted, or uneven surfaces.

Built for the Bench and the Field

The slim, tapered body fits comfortably in one hand, and four AA batteries deliver up to 70 hours of use. Each probe stores up to 50 application calibrations, so recurring jobs are ready to measure instantly. Measurement data is organized into groups and blocks for clean statistics, with up to 50,000 readings stored and USB-C output to a PC running the free LDL Export software. Readings display in microns, millimeters, or mils.

Need wireless data and a mobile reporting app? The L600E Expert Coating Thickness Gauge adds Bluetooth, the LDL Mobile Android app, and double the memory for high-volume logging and on-site reports.

Need a printout right at the part? The L500 Coating Thickness Gauge has a built-in printer for hard-copy records the moment a reading is taken.
