Micro Moisture Analyzer

Micro Moisture Analyzer — Trace Measurement to 2 ppm, No Chemical Reagents

Measure moisture at levels as low as two parts per million using heated drying and selective moisture adsorption. The refined successor to the original FM300, with optical position switches replacing mechanical switching for greater reliability — and the same clean measurement principle: no reagents, no solvents, no chemical waste.

  • Trace sensitivity: Moisture readings to 0.0002% (2 ppm) and mass changes to 0.01 mg
  • Karl Fischer alternative: Correlation of 0.999 against KF results — without reagent costs or hazardous waste
  • Selective measurement: An activated carbon filter passes only moisture, eliminating interference from other volatiles
  • Simple operation: Place the sample, select a stored measurement condition, and the analyzer stops automatically

Description

The FM300A is no longer manufactured. Kett continues to support FM300A owners with parts, service, and guidance on current measurement options — see Service and Replacement below.

A New Concept in Trace Moisture Measurement

Moisture measurement at the 1/10,000% level is beyond conventional heated-drying and electrical methods, and Karl Fischer titration gets there only at the cost of reagents, solvent handling, hazardous waste, and skilled operators. The FM300A takes a different approach: the sample is heated in a sealed chamber, released moisture is carried through an activated carbon filter that removes all other volatiles, and the moisture is captured in a molecular sieve where its mass is measured directly. Clean, selective, gravimetric.

Solving the Problems of Chemical Titration

  • Reagent cost and waste: No chemicals means no reagent purchases, no solvent changes, no hazardous waste stream — running cost is a fraction of titration.
  • Interference from other volatiles: Only moisture reaches the adsorption chamber, so resins, ceramics, pharmaceuticals, foods, and chemicals read true moisture even when other volatiles are present.
  • Operator skill requirements: No specialized chemistry knowledge needed — select one of 20 stored measurement conditions and press start.
  • Reliability in daily use: Optical position switches replace the mechanical switches of the original FM300, improving long-term switching reliability.

Built for the Trace Moisture Laboratory

The FM300A displays sample mass, measurement time, measured value, and the live drying curve on its backlit LCD, with PID-controlled heating from 70–300°C in 1°C steps and a titanium sample pan. High-purity nitrogen carrier gas sweeps the drying chamber, RS-232C output connects a printer or PC, and every unit shipped with the One Year Total Care Warranty covering parts, labor, and specification compliance.

Service and Replacement

The FM300A is no longer manufactured, and there is no direct replacement in the current Kett lineup. Kett continues to provide service support for units in the field — contact us to discuss your trace moisture measurement requirements.

Need moisture determination for standard moisture ranges? The FD800 Dual Control Moisture Balance delivers primary-method loss-on-drying measurement for laboratory and production QC, though it does not reach the ppm levels the FM300A was built for.
