LH330J – Non-Ferrous Coating Thickness Gauge

Eddy current coating thickness gauge for coatings on aluminum, copper, and brass, no longer in production.

The LH330J measured insulating coatings on non-magnetic metal substrates from a single handheld unit, with a durable fixed-tip probe and an easy-calibration mode. It has been succeeded by the L600S, which carries the same non-ferrous measurement with a larger color display, greater memory, and USB-C output.

  • No longer manufactured: The LH330J has reached end of life. The L600S is its current production replacement.
  • Eddy current measurement: Insulating coatings on aluminum, copper, brass, and other non-magnetic metals.
  • Durable probe, easy calibration: Fixed-tip LHP30J probe with an easy-calibration mode for measurement from the substrate alone.

Description

The Non-Ferrous Field Gauge That Set the Standard for the L600S

The LH330J was Kett’s eddy current coating thickness gauge for operators measuring insulating coatings on non-magnetic substrates. It is no longer manufactured. The information below is provided for owners of existing units and for buyers identifying the current replacement.

What the LH330J Did

The LH330J used an eddy current probe to measure the thickness of paint, anodizing, resin, and other insulating coatings on aluminum, copper, brass, and other non-magnetic metals. Operators worked from one handheld unit with a single-contact probe that applied constant pressure for repeatable readings.

  • Built for non-ferrous substrates: Eddy current measurement of insulating coatings on aluminum, copper, brass, and other non-magnetic metals, including anodized and painted parts.
  • Measurement range: Up to 800 µm, covering typical coating and anodizing work.
  • Four application memories: Stored calibration curves for repeated jobs, so an operator could recall a setup without recalibrating.
  • Durable probe with easy calibration: Supplied with the fixed-tip LHP30J probe, with an easy-calibration mode that set up measurement from the substrate alone, accurate for coatings up to 500 µm.

Why the L600S Replaces It

The LH330J followed the LH300 series and was succeeded by the LH370 and LH373. The current production model for all of this work is the L600S. It keeps the non-ferrous measurement that defined the 330 and adds a wider measurement range, a 2.7 inch full color display, storage for 50,000 records, and USB-C output for modern data transfer.
