KB270 Desktop NIR Composition Meter

Desktop NIR Composition Meter — Moisture, Water Activity, Fat, Protein, and More in Seconds

Measure multiple organic components simultaneously with a single non-destructive test. Test results are instant. Even when averaging across a varied sample, the final reading is returned in under 10 seconds. The KB270 uses near-infrared light to deliver lab-grade composition data without chemicals, sample destruction, or specialized training.

  • Multi-Component Analysis: Measure moisture, water activity, fat, protein, solids, BTU, coat weight, film thickness, and calculated ash from one instrument.
  • 50 Stored Calibrations: Switch between products and parameters instantly. Password protection prevents unauthorized changes.
  • Non-Destructive: NIR light does not alter the sample. Test and return it to the batch or use it for additional analysis.

Description

One Instrument. Multiple Components. Instant Answers.

Traditional composition analysis means separate tests for each parameter — moisture by oven, water activity by another analyzer, fat by Soxhlet extraction, protein by Kjeldahl digestion. Each method requires dedicated equipment, consumables, trained technicians, and hours of wait time. The KB270 replaces all of them with a single NIR measurement that returns results in seconds.

Why Labs and QC Teams Choose the KB270

  • Simultaneous Multi-Component Results: Get moisture, water activity, fat, protein, total solids, BTU, coat weight, film thickness, and calculated ash from one test on one instrument. No more splitting samples across multiple methods.
  • True Sample Averaging: The built-in rotating turntable measures across the entire sample surface, not just a single spot. This is critical for varied materials like grains, blended powders, snack foods, and coated products where composition differs within the sample.
  • Non-Destructive Testing: NIR light does not heat, dissolve, or chemically alter the sample. Test it and return it to the batch or run additional analyses on the same material.
  • Replace Multiple Lab Methods: One KB270 can replace a drying oven, water activity analyzer, Karl Fischer titrator, Soxhlet extractor, and Kjeldahl apparatus. Reduce equipment costs, consumable spend, chemical waste, and operator training requirements.

How It Works

  1. Place your sample on the rotation table (petri dish, plastic bag, polyethylene sheet, or direct placement).
  2. Measure with safe, non-destructive NIR light. The instrument reads near-infrared absorption across multiple wavelengths to identify organic component concentrations.
  3. Read composition results on the OLED display. Results appear in seconds.

Built for Your Workflow

Store up to 50 product calibrations on board and switch between them with a button press. Connect to a PC via USB or Ethernet for calibration development, data tracking, and analysis using Kett Multicalc software, or run standalone on the production floor once calibrations are loaded — no PC connection required for daily measurement. Password protection prevents unauthorized changes to calibration data. An optional thermal printer provides hardcopy records without a PC connection.

Only need moisture measurement? The KB230 Desktop NIR Moisture Meter delivers the same instant, non-destructive testing on the same desktop platform at a lower cost.
