EPW400 Heavy Duty Air Motor Laboratory Mixer

Pilot-Batch Torque on Compressed Air.

Pilot batches in a room that allows nothing electric used to mean a bench air mixer running past its limit. This mixer pairs a 0.3 HP air motor with the large gearbox proven in the BLW series and a ø13 drill chuck for thick shafts, on a fixed arm rod with no moving parts to work loose under load. Rated 400 rpm with 2.2 N·m allowable torque, for solvent coatings, gels, and creams in large vessels. Nothing electrical enters the room.

  • Bench air mixers pushed past their torque in big vessels: The BLW gearbox and ø13 chuck bring pilot-plant torque to an air drive, with a fixed heavy arm rod that stays put under load.
  • Air mixers that arrive as a kit of parts: The separator unit with filter, lubricator, regulator, and turbine oil ships in the box with the hose, chuck handle, and clamp holder.
  • Overload that breaks the gears: Allowable torque is a hard limit on an air motor, so match the model to the material: lower rated speed, higher torque.

Price range: $5,595.00 through $6,195.00

Description

Pilot-Plant Torque on Compressed Air

This model is the air-driven answer to the same problem the BLW solves electrically: a vessel too large and a material too thick for a bench mixer. A 0.3 HP air motor drives the BLW’s large gearbox through a ø13 drill chuck, on a large fixed arm rod, from a 0.5 MPaG supply at up to 190 L/min. Speed is set by needle valve; the mixer is rated 400 rpm with 2.2 N·m allowable torque and a recommended working maximum of 280 rpm under load, for solvent coatings, gels, and creams in large vessels. Oil-less operation is possible.

Solving the Hard Problems of Pilot Mixing Without Electricity

  • Gears broken by overloading: The allowable torque is a real limit on an air motor; the model numbering makes it easy to pick the one with headroom for your material.
  • Thick shafts a bench air mixer cannot hold: The ø13 drill chuck takes ø12 shafts and the large 12-series blades that pilot vessels need.
  • Speed control with no electronics: A needle valve on the operating panel sets the speed, and the regulator in the separator unit holds the supply pressure behind it.

Built for the Air-Only Pilot Room

The separator unit with filter, lubricator, regulator, and turbine oil ships in the box with the hose, chuck handle, and clamp holder, and can be converted to a free-standing type. A factory-fitted full-guard safety cover version is offered as the EPW Saf model. Running beyond allowable torque can damage the gears, so match the model to the material: lower rated speed, higher torque. The mixer carries no hazardous-location certification or listing; it is offered on the basis that it contains no electrical parts. Part of the Heidon Three-One Motor line, manufactured by Shinto Scientific and sold and supported in the US by Kett, with every configuration backed by the One-Year Total Care Warranty covering parts, labor, and specification compliance.

Three ways to order. Motor Only is the drive unit alone, ready for the shafts and blades you already run. The P configuration adds the FS7 blade set and a 500 mm stainless steel shaft for a working setup out of the box. The S configuration adds the CS2 heavy duty stand, completing a full mixing station. The separator unit, hose, chuck handle, and clamp holder are included with every configuration.

Working with smaller batches on air? The EP400 Air Motor Laboratory Mixer runs the same 0.3 HP air motor in a bench-size housing.

Working outside a hazardous area? The BLW600 Heavy Duty Laboratory Mixer brings a speed display, feedback control, and automatic reverse cycles to the same class of work.
