Does temperature affect the instant moisture measurement reading on the KJT130Category: NIR Instant Composition AnalyzersDoes temperature affect the instant moisture measurement reading on the KJT130
Rob Schreiber asked 11 years ago

We are using the KJT 130 on a paper coater. We would like to get the real-time moisture level (when the coating is running) of the paper before coating and after coating. The paper is room temperature before coating, but it may be at a higher temperature after coating (because we IR dry the paper). I was wondering will paper temperature affect the accuracy of reading? It looks like the KJT-130 reading shows more offset when measuring our paper after coating.

Temperature doesn't affect the reading ... unless the actual paper moisture is altered because of the temperature.  If you are measuring coated vs uncoated, they should be two separate calibrations.  We have automatic temperature compensation in all of our NIR and many of our 'non-nir' instruments.  Contact us directly at support@kett.com if you have more detailed questions.
