Multi-Component Composition Analysis in a Portable Instrument
The KJT170 put six-filter near-infrared composition analysis into a handheld, battery-powered body. It measures several organic components at once, moisture, fat and oil, protein, starch, and more, from a non-contact reading taken in place, without carrying the sample to a benchtop analyzer.
Why a Portable Composition Analyzer
- A separate test for every component: Six measurement filters return moisture, water activity, fat and oil, protein, starch, and caloric value together, with ash calculated by difference, replacing the drying oven, Soxhlet extraction, and Kjeldahl digestion run one at a time.
- Samples you cannot bring to a lab: The handheld, battery-powered design goes to webs, sheets, and production lines for composition checks taken in place.
- Contact and surface damage: Non-contact reflectance from about 150 mm reads finished and delicate surfaces without touching them.
- Slow lab methods: A near-infrared reading returns in about two seconds.
Built for Portable Analysis
The KJT170 stores up to 50 calibration channels, one per component, holds up to 99 time-stamped readings in memory, and offers sample, monitor, and average measurement modes. Two-level password protection guards stored settings, a tungsten lamp rated for roughly 20,000 hours supports long service life, and RS-232C connects the unit to a PC or printer. At about 1.1 kg, it travels easily. Every Kett instrument carries a One Year Total Care Warranty covering parts, labor, and specification compliance, with Maintenance Agreements available.
Service and Replacement
The KJT170 is no longer manufactured. For composition measurement on a production line, the replacement is our KJT700 Online NIR Composition Meter, which measures in place as product runs. For near-line or laboratory desktop measurement, the replacement is our KB270 Desktop NIR Composition Meter, which delivers the same multi-component analysis with higher precision on the bench.
